Hispanic RCIA / Adult First Communicants 2008/2009

"It is never too late to make things happen,

and with God everything is possible"

After many weeks of prayer, reflection, and preparation, four adults received the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time at the celebration of the Mass on April 25, 2009. They are the very first group from the Adult Hispanic Ministry at our parish. Two others who attended the sessions received the Sacrament of Confirmation at a celebration with Bishop James Johnston on April 29.

Ericka, Angel, Christian, and Daysi received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time at the Parish Reconciliation earlier this year. We were blessed to have two Spanish speaking priests, Fr. Hector and Fr. Joshi from Sacred Heart Parish in Springfield, at the Reconciliation Service.

The First Communion Mass was a wonderful celebration for the community. Josue Segura, brother of Christian Castillo, is carrying the candle. Josue received his First Communion the weekend before.

The First Reading was read by Reyna, Christian's Mom, and the Second reading by Cony Canizalez, Daisy’s Sponsor (Godmother).

Fr. Hector read the Gospel and gave the Homily, in full Spanish!

Each of the First Communicants read three intercessory prayers, written on their own on during our last class. They also brought the gifts to the altar.

The collection was by Gaby Reyes and Mairini Gomez who will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on April 29.

Fr. William and Fr. Rick gave the Body and Blood of Christ to each of the First Communicants.

Christ's Light shines brightly, covering the whole Church and the entire celebration as Jesus welcomed each one of them with His wide open arms. The community felt God’s presence full of Glorious Joy, and Our Blessed Mother also joining us just as she did in the Canaan Wedding with feast.

May the Light of Christ continue to shine as we continue our journey of faith!

Many thanks to the the Sponsors, Catechists, Photographers, and Community who helped to make this special celebration possible.

For those who have not received these Holy Sacraments but are wondering if they are too old or worry what the rest may think, feel welcome and comfortable to come forward and enroll for the next season, September 2009-2010!
