Loaves and Fishes Dinners - Winter 2009

Caring people make all the difference!

Our Lady of the Lake is one of several local organizations working together to feed the hungry of our area during the slower tourism months.

As of March 16, 2009, 1,476 volunteers had provided 8,425 guests with a warm, nutritious meal over the course of 10 weeks. In addition, 3,234 to-go boxes made their way to neighbors and the homeless....with additional weeks to go in the program, these are not the final numbers.

The scope and reach of Loaves & Fishes was expanded by the addition of "Hope on the Road". This bus ministry provided a ride to the Loaves and Fishes locations as well as welcoming and friendly fellowship from volunteers. Those who climbed aboard the bus each night found acceptance and love that enabled the initial awkward quietness to grow into songs, stories and even guitar playing and hymn singing.

Many thanks to the Loaves & Fishes "Family" at Our Lady of the Lake. The "ripple effect" of this wonderful program continues to be seen in our community as ministers discover a passion for the poor and discern how they may be called to serve.
