Remarks from Father Rick – Welcoming Father William

Greetings Holy Ones of Our Lady---

I am going to skip another week in talking about the renovation project. My main reason for this is to remind all of us of our NEW task we have been given starting this Thursday, August 16th. That of course is the day that Father William Hennecke, our Associate Pastor, shows up for duty here in Taney County.

As I have said before, I think it is an honor to have Father William be assigned to us. I believe that the Bishop looks atparishes here in Taney County as being alive and growing. I also believe that the Bishop sees us as being a safe and protective place for Father William to learn about how to be a priest. In that sense, all of us are his mentors.

I remember my first couple of years as a priest. They were great years! I was able to use my training from seminary for the first time and see how it made a difference in the lives of the People of God. I remember facing struggles and being sought out as the one with all the answers… knowing that I had no answers in the midst of a tragedy. I also remember being completely irresponsible and telling parishioners, "You need to ask the Pastor about that!" They were great years… almost like a honeymoon!

I hope we all can enjoy Father William's enthusiasm as he moves into the parish this week. May the Spirit of our living God give us all the joy of celebrating this new Sacrament, the person of Father William, being made real among us. I hope you all get a chance to express your welcome to Father William after the Masses this weekend.

Much Peace,
Father Rick
